The People Suffer

Sunday morning

We get dressed, we put on our best dresses and our best suits, we put on our make-up, and we brush our hair.

We go to church.

We walked in and greeted everyone. We sat down, and we sang praises; we shouted alleluia; we kneeled at the alter, and we prayed.

The preacher preached; he sweats. The choir sings, we all say amen, and we go home.

Sunday morning

We get dressed, we put on our best dresses and suits, we put on our make-up, and we brush our hair.

We go to church.

We walked in and greeted everyone. We sat down, we sang praises, we shouted alleluia, we kneeled at the alter, and we prayed.

The preacher preached; he sweats. The choir sings, we all say amen, and we go home.

The people remained the same. They were broken, and they continued to live in pain.

Their minds were hardened, and their hearts were hardened. They did not know how to love themselves, and they did not know how to love one another. The people were broken.

Then my consciousness shifted, and I realised my heart was broken and I had never loved myself. I saw myself as being better than people. They were different, and I was better than them. My mind was hardened, and my heart was hardened. And then I started seeing things differently. I started loving myself, and my heart opened. I started thinking differently, and my mind opened. I began to see people as myself, and I began to love them like myself.

So, Sunday morning, I woke up, got dressed, put on my best suit, walked up the steps, and greeted everyone at the church. And for the first time, I stood at the door. And the people sang praises; they clapped their hands and shouted “Alleluia.” They kneeled at the alter and prayed. The preacher preached, he sweated, the choir sang, we all said amen, and we all went home.

And the people suffer; their hearts remain broken and their minds remain hardened. They got no therapy, and the people suffered.
